Antique Georgian Opaque Twist DSOT English Lead Wine Glass c1765 (Code 2703)

Description

A Georgian wine glass with double series opaque twist stem.  The bowl is of rounded funnel form and the foot is conical with a rough snapped pontil scar as expected for the period.  It dates around 1765 and is an English example made in lead glass.

The bowl capacities of this period were very small, partly due to drinking often being done as toasts at the table, and also if you could afford these glasses at the time you could also afford servants to refill them for you.

Condition

Very good for period, a few light scratches.  Inclusions are low, there is some air trapped in with the twist as typical.  Foot original without repolishing.  Slight frits to the foot rim edge.
