Rene Lalique Art Deco Volutes Pattern Coupe-Ouverte Opalescent Glass Bowl c1934 (Code 2306)
An Art Deco period opalescent glass bowl by the famous French designer Rene Lalique. It is in the Volutes (whorl) pattern and in the coupe-ouverte shape, Lalique catalogue number 10-395. It dates around 1934 and has the R Lalique France stencilled mark to the center of the bowl.
Lalique opalescent glass takes on blue tone when front lit on a dark background and when strongly back lit has fiery orange tones. This example has quite strong opalescence and looks relatively blue under even regular lighting.
A good example, a few surface scratches inside the bowl that can be seen on inspection and felt with a finger tip.
