Description
An early 20th century Loetz Rusticana vase dating to the Art Nouveau period. It has a textured finish with distinctive spots and a subtle iridised finish. It is also mounted on a silver plated foot marked EPNS, this is original and Loetz often mounted their pieces on metal. The bright photography lights have rather washed out the tone and has a subtler darker and more olive colour under normal lighting where the iridescence is also more visible. To the base is an old collectors label where they have correctly identified and attributed the design.
Condition
Some minor period wear. A one tiny chip to the inner rim and some slight fritting to the outer rim. The mount has tarnished and I have left it like this as it seems to suit the design, but it could of course be bright polished. There are some tiny surface splits around the rim neck exterior which look a little like hairlines, I've seen these before on rusticana and they seem to be from the production and surface finish and they do not penetrate through the glass.
