Antique Arts & Crafts Oak Wood & Green Glass Three Drawer Table Top Smokers Box (Code 1453)
An early 20th century Edwardian period oak smokers cabinet in the Arts & Crafts / Art Nouveau style. You can see influences of both movements here in this attractive box. It has stylised metal mounts ans a textured green glass door. The top is quarter sawn oak with attractive grain. To the side is a small open shelf with buttress arms fitted with a glass an metal small ashtray. Internally there are three drawers and above the shelf are two ring holders for pipes. The door has a working lock which works as a sprung latch. The design is attractive and it is quite a small example giving more flexibility in placement. As well as for the original purpose it would be fine for jewellery or as a small desk box or collectors cabinet.
Nice developed warm tone patina. Normal wear, scratches and marks but nothing serious. Small amount of damage by the lock. Knocks and dents to metal on ashtray.
