Antique Edwardian Crisford & Norris Solid Silver Repousse Stag Card Case hm 1902 (Code 1536)
A heavy silver card case by Crisford and Norris of the famous Vyse Street in the Jewellery Quarter of Birmingham. It is hallmarked for the Birmigham assay office in 1902 making this an Edwardian example. The case has repousse work much deeper than average and features a stag in a Scottish landscape with two does lying behind. The case has extensive scroll and trellis work in the Edwardian style with cartouche to the front and rear, these remaining vacant. The hallmark is to the inner lip hidden by the lid and the hinge and closure work fine and as intended. It is a fair amount heavier than average for this type of item demonstrating further the quailty of the piece.
Good for period with minor wear, hallmarks clear and hinge working fine. A couple of small indents to the top edge of the lid.
