Antique Edwardian Oak and Silver Mounted Shaped Box by Hilliard & Thomason 1904 (Code 2642)
A delightful Edwardian period shaped box. It has an elaborate silver mount with Birmingham hallmark for 1904 and the silversmiths of Hilliard and Thomason. There is a working lock and key. The box shape is very specific and there is a large cartouche area for engraving (empty) to the top. It was perhaps for a presentation item, piece of military regalia etc. It would not make a very interesting small jewellery box or desk item.
Generally good, small pieces of silver missing from the very top leaf section and right most scroll. Lid slightly warped but still locking fine. Scratch to silver.
