Description

A good quality George III period c1800 tea caddy.  It is in mahogany wood with decorative cross banding to the edges.  It has brass handles and carved bracket feet.  Inside it has removable caddy boxes with hinged lids and a central area for a mixing bowl which is not present.  There is a brass lock which is working well and the escutcheon is a diamond shape.  Lovely rich burnt orange tones to the exterior patina and nicely polished an ready for display.

 

Condition

Minor wear, knocks, scratches etc commensurate with age.  Some small old repairs to the banding at the corners.  Lock good.  Wear to interior lid lining.  Some foil remaining to the caddy boxes.
