Description

A mid 19th century Georgian flute glass with a multi series air twist stem.  It is of two part construction with the bowl and stem drawn together.  The foot is of plain conical form and the pontil is rough snapped as you would expect for this period.  The glass is an English lead glass example and would date around 1750.  Glasses such as this were often used for fine quality ales which at the time were strongly alcoholic and enjoyed in the same way as champagne is today.  The flute glass in this form is nor particularly common and very attractive with the elegant profile and the air twist stem.

Condition

Normal period wear and some scratches inside the base of the bowl.  Minor air bubbles and impurities but less than usual for period.  Two tiny and contained stress lines with the foot.
