Description

A Bristol green coloured wine glass dating to the early 19th century, it would date circa 1825-45 spanning the George IV, William IV and early Victorian periods.  It is transitional in style moving from the Heavier Georgian style into the lighter earlier Victorian form.  It retains a top knop and basal swelling to the stem and the pontil scar has been ground and polished out.  It is constructed in three parts from high quality English lead glass and is an interesting example with the collector with the transitional features.

Provenance: Part of a single owner collection of high quality Georgian and Victorian green glass from the Cheshire area.

Condition

Very good order with slight wear.  Impurities are very low for the period.  Indent in top of foot from glassblowers tooling during manufacture.
