Description

A Georgian large glass tazza with a hollow ribbed baluster stem.  It dates to the mid 18th century around 1860 and is an English lead glass example.  It has quite a wide stand and was probably the base tazza (they usually came in graduated sets).  Tazzas like this were used to display/serve jelly glasses with desserts.  It is of course hand made and has a rough snapped pontil, the foot is folded (upwards in this example) and there is a lip around the stand.  They were expensive items in their day, and can of course be used today with care.

Condition

Some contamination trapped inside the stem from blowing, resulting in a bloom.  A bruise to the rim, shown in close up for you.  Minor period wear.  Normal tiny air bubbles and mineral inclusions in the glass from production as expected for this period.
