celebrated factory of George Bacchus.  It is of classical amphora form with circular foot and everted rim.  The vase features an Etruscan scene which is repeated to both sides and in between are a winged figure and a lady holding a rabbit or perhaps a hare.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe vase is a Vitrified Enamel Colours example and it has the Bacchus mark in a banner to the underside base.  The glass shows fiery opal colours when held up to the light.  It also has gilt rings around the rim, shoulders and foot.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA similar but slighter larger example can be vase dating to the Art Nouveau period.  It has a textured finish with distinctive spots and a subtle iridised finish.  It is also mounted on a silver plated foot marked EPNS, this is original and Loetz often mounted their pieces on metal.  The bright photography lights have rather washed out the tone and has a subtler darker and more olive colour under normal lighting where the iridescence is also more visible.  To the base is an old collectors label where they have correctly identified and attributed the design.\u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003e  \u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cp suit the design, but it could of course be bright polished.  There are some tiny surface splits around the rim neck exterior which look a little like hairlines, I've seen these before on rusticana and period, perhaps 3 to 4 times the capacity of the average example.  It is also a little taller than usual and the foot is scaled up accordingly and is deeply conical with a rough snapped pontil.  The bottle set in a tooled and gilded leather case.  The case is deeply tooled with textured ground and decorative forms which have been finished in gilt.  There are two brass straps over the lid, just for decoration, and there is a small lock with key and later tassel.  It has a fitted interior with red satin lining and red velvet mounts for the two cut glass perfume bottles which are the originals and even have the original stoppers.  On opening the front panel falls forward to make accessing the bottles easier.  This type of item is associated with retail at the Palais Royal in Paris and it is toddy cups by Hukin \u0026amp; Heath.  The silver frames are of wirework form with flip top lids having cut outs for a spoon and base rings to seat the glass.  The glass beakers are gilded around the tops with a leaf and dot pattern.  The pontil scars have also been ground and polished out.  The frames have an extravagant amount of silver content way in excess of what would be needed to function well so they were clearly at the top end of what was already a luxury item.  They have clear hallmarks to the base rings and partial repeat marks to the inside of the lids.  The hallmark is for London 1907 making them Edwardian in period.  They were intended for hot alcoholic beverages such as whisky based blends.  Rare and lovely pieces for the The longer stemmed forms are generally late 18th century while the shorter stemmed versions are a little later. The bowl is still of very small capacity, the same as the twist stem glasses from a little earlier. Both glasses and wine were expensive at this period, and those who could afford them usually had servants who would fill the glasses, so the small size was not a hindrance and drinking was often done in toasts at the dinner table, making a small capacity glass ideal.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe pontil scar on this example has been ground and polished out, and this is the period when this practice began to emerge, prior to the facet stem series English glasses were almost exclusively left with the pontil scar rough snapped. The way the base of the bowl has been cut also means when you look at it in plan view it forms the shape of a flower. There are no makers marks which is usual for the the late 19th century. The portrait bears resemblance to some work by Sevres and is certainly of a good standard, however it is probably more likely that the item is from the then Bohemian region (modern day Austria \u0026amp; Czech Republic).
