Description

An English lead type drinking glass dating to the mid 18th century.  It has a double series opaque twist stem consisting of a central cork screw with four outer tapes.  The bowl is of ogee form with optic ribs over the lower section.  The bowl is unusually large for the period, perhaps 3 to 4 times the capacity of the average example.  It is also a little taller than usual and the foot is scaled up accordingly and is deeply conical with a rough snapped pontil.  The date range would be around 1760-5.

Condition

Light period wear with some scratches inside the bowl through over-zealous cleaning.  Minor impurities.  A nice example with the much larger than usual bowl.
