Description

A scarce early Victorian period wine jug and two goblets from the Richardsons glass factory in Stourbridge, England The leaf motif adorns the goblets and the jug with a frosted ground to provide contrast. The jug is an open ewer style and would not have come with a stopper and is intended for use at the table. It would be equally suited to wine or water etc. The goblets have star cut feet and the jug also has an applied disc foot with star cutting. The goblets are plenty large enough for use and easily comparable in capacity to modern wine glasses.

The items are not marked (they never were at this period) but the design is known and referenced to Richardsons around 1860. They are produced in high quality glass and look surprisingly contemporary considering they are around 160 years old. Lovely glassware for display or careful use.

Condition

Very good for period. Minor wear with the odd light scratch or scuff. Jug with slight notch to outer rim where the glass cutter was careless and cut a tiny little groove. One goblet with small open air bubble where the flute cutting connects the bowl to the stem.
