Antique North West Indian Brass Betel Nut Cutter with Peacock & Steel Blade (Code 2716)
A late 19th or early 20th century Indian brass betel nut cutter from the North Western regions. It has a steel blade grafted into the body for strength of cutting. The handle has a peacock form at the joint with the body and there are further bird forms. Some of the roundels retain the original glass decoration, these would have been coloured by foil underneath but this has degraded through the ages. An interesting piece which would made a nice talking point in a collection.
Most of the glass decorative inlay pieces missing and colours have faded. Age related wear, see images for general presentation.
