Rare Antique/Vintage Osby & Barton 10K Gold & Enamel Comptometer Maths Ring (Code A815)

Description

An antique/vintage 10 carat gold ring.  It was made by United States jeweller Ostby & Barton who ceased operations in 1950.  The ring has enamelled detail with mathematical symbols.  Above is the word comptometer.  These rings were awarded to students who performed exceptionally well whilst learning the comptometer and it dates to the first half of the 20th Century.  It has the maker's mark inside the band along with 10K for the gold standard.  

These rings now appear very scarce with very few coming through the art markets.  A wonderful gift for the mathematician in your life.

• Ring size : P (US size 7.5)
• Band Width: 2.23mm to 2.56mm
• Head Size : 9.8mm x 9.5mm
• Material : 10K Gold
• Weight: 3.04 grams

Condition: Very good for period.  The letters C & R of comptometer are rubbed making them hard to see.  Otherwise just minor wear and the enamel on the symbols in good order.  Cleaned, polished and ready to wear or gift.
