Vintage/Antique 18ct Gold & Hand Cut Red Coral Bead Double Strand Necklace (Code A621)
A vintage or antique double row coral necklace with an 18ct gold clasp. The beads are red coral of the type corrallium rubrum from the Mediterranean. The beads appear to be hand cut and hand knotted on the cord. The clasp is unmarked and I have tested it as 18 carat gold. The clasp has been modified from its original form and is now a simple hook design. Previously it would appear to have been a spring tab but it has been professionally modified to work in the current form. The may have been due to damage or the owners personal preference. It is likely the beads were restrung at that time. Due to their hand made nature the beads are of various size averaging around 5 x 3.5mm.
Length : 59.5 cms (23.5") (short strand)
Weight: 41.08 grams (before packing)
Condition: Clasp has been adapted as per listing details and is now a simple loop catch. Beads in good period order, they are hand cut so differ in size and of course have natural features as expected for a natural product. Cleaned and ready to wear or gift.
