Description

A Lynton fine bone china bough pot.  Lynton has a reputation for producing low quantities of fine and exclusive china pieces often highly gilt embellished which are sold worldwide to those with deep pockets. The company was started by Mr Nowacki, formery of Derby China and this small factory has produced some outstanding pieces leaning on the Derby heritage.  This piece is a bough pot, these semi circular vases were used for flower stems and small flower bearing boughs, and by tradition used to decorate fireplaces in the summer.  The design was most popular during the end of the 18th and early 19th century with some particularly fine pieces produced by Derby and Worcester.

This vase has the traditional semi circular profile with rams head handles and a pedestal shaped base.  The top divider (or frog) is in white with floral sprigs and removes for easy cleaning and arranging of the stems.  The body is in deep cobalt blue with floral reserves.  To the underside is the Lynton stamp in orange.
