Description

Two antique oak carved lion mask heads.  They are in the late 17th / early 18th century style and would originally have been part of a larger piece of furniture or been used as decorative mountings.  They are not a true pair as there are differences as can be seen in the images.  They have been set into a custom made glass fronted case which appears to have been intended for hanging.  The style of the case suggests the lions heads were mounted to it in the 1970's.

Condition

Examination limited by the case but there do not seem to be any major faults.  Slight edge losses, some shrinkage splits to one mane.  Case with age related wear and marks.
