Antique Cut Red Ruby Glass Victorian Scent Bottle with Silver Cap c1870 (Code 0737)
A 19th century Victorian period cut ruby glass and silver mounted scent bottle. This example is a little larger than average and the cap is also more elaborate than often found. There are no hallmarks, this is not uncommon as very small amounts of silver did not need to be assayed, and it could also indicate it is of French origin. The body has been facet cut and the base is ground flat so it will stand up on a dressing table etc. It retains the mini glass stopper which fits inside the cap. These items come in a range of colours and mounts making it a great collecting field.
Generally good for period. Normal wear to the body and one small nick to a cut edge. Hinge works fine and stopper fits perfectly.
