Description

A late 18th century George III period berry spoon.  It has a London hallmark for 1774 to the shaft and the makers mark for George Smith II who first registered his mark as a smallworker in 1767.  This spoon has a fluted bowl with the fruits quite deeply formed along with stylised leaves.  The handle has cut detail with flowers and patterns and a vacant cartouche at the top.  The bowl is gilded to the top and bottom to help prevent tarnishing.

Condition

Good for period, not light wear and scratches.  Gilt largely still intact with some rubbing of the high spots.  Some rubbing of the hallmark, but still legible as can be seen in the images.
