Art Deco Silver Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Heavy Lidded Dish with Chased Detail (Code 2325)

Description

A fine quality silver lidded dish by the famous Goldsmiths & Silvermiths Company of London.  It has chased detail to the body in flowing designs and dates to the Art Deco period.  It is very heavy for the size with thick sections and was squarely aimed as a high end item not stinting on the silver content.  It has the markers details to the base with their London address and a hallmark to the side for 1931.  At this size it may have been intended for various purposes including as a sweet or preserve jar, dressing table jar or desk piece.

Condition

Very good for period, minor wear as expected, one tiny indent to the lid.
