18ct Gold Art Deco Ring Yellow - Orange Padparadscha Sapphire Rare Gemstone Size M (Code A450)
An Art Deco style single stone ring set with a rare yellow-orange padparadscha sapphire, the stone is probably from Ceylon (modern day Sri Lanka). The ring has a plain band which has a deep impressed mark, this is illegible however it tests as 18 carat gold. The shoulders have mill grain and bright cut accents applied to the main band, these are likely in silver. The star of the show is the rare sapphire which is step cut and goes from light yellow to orange depending on viewing angle. The stone measures just under 2 carats in size and is set in a stepped mount with flat claws forming a geometric pattern. The ring is likely from the 1930's or 40's period.
