A 19th Century Antique Bristol Green Wine Glass with Gilded Greek Key Band (Code 7709)
Description
An unusual antique Bristol green wine glass with a fine band of Greek key decoration. It dates around 1830-40 so it could be George IV, William IV or even early Victorian in period. It is of two part construction with a slender drawn stem and cup shaped bowl. The foot is conical and the pontil is ground and polished away. The glass is English lead and it is quite finely blown for the period.
The main interest is in the gilded Greek key pattern which is particularly well executed for the period and also has very little wear considering the age.
Certainly a rare find with this design and a great addition to a Bristol green glass collection.
Condition
Glass in excellent order with no damage and minimal wear. Some wear to the gilding to the rim but very little wear to the decorative gilt band.
