A Georgian English Lead Glass Wine Goblet with DSOT Opaque Twist Stem c1765 (Code 7493)
A mid 18th Century Georgian wine goblet drinking glass dating just into the reign of George III around 1760. It has a good capacity bowl and a thick stem with a double series twist. The stem has a central spiral core and an outer pair of tapes in corkscrew manner. It is made of English lead glass material.
The foot is of conical form and the pontil scar is rough snapped as you would expect for this period.
Goblets are far less common than standard wine glasses and have a capacity not far off a current wine glass which makes them good candidates for (careful) use.
Very good for period. A few scratches around the bowl but less than average for period. Very minor air bubble inclusions. A good example.
