An Antique Edwardian Mahogany Library Rotating Book and Papers Stand (Code 8421)
A lovely early 20th century Edwardian period mahogany book and newspaper stand. It is of rotating form with the top caddy section rotating fully. It has two sections for books and two open slat sides for books, magazines or rolled newspapers. The top brass knop can be loosened or tightened to make it easier or stiffer to rotate the caddy.
This type of stand would traditionally be used beside a comfortable reading chair after selecting the books or papers you wish to have immediate access too. You can of course use it however you wish. The base is weighted to make it difficult to knock over and it stands on three bun feet.
A lovely piece of small furniture which is also practical and very useful today. It has a classic look and is of quality manufacture. Please note books shown in the images are to show application and are not included in the sale.
Good order for period and ready to use. Minor wear and knocks typical for age. The top of the caddy is a little lighter in colour than the rest due to normal exposure to light.
Height 82 cms (32 inches)
Width 31 cms (12 inches) across the caddy
Weight 7900 grams (before packing).
