An Antique Indo-Persian White Metal Hand Mirror with Embossed Design (Code 9479)

  • £5000

Description

An early 20th century Indo-Persian hand mirror.  An interesting design without handle which is just clasped in the hand to use.  It is in the shape of a flower head and has chased and embossed details to the metal work.  The reverse is set with an exotic bird having a bowed head.

It appears to be a form of plated white metal, more along the lines of old Sheffield plate rather than electroplate. An interesting, pretty and decorative item.

Condition

Some rubbing of the metal especially around the edges as you would expect.  Some failing of the mirror coating in places.  Some of the studs are perhaps replacements.  The head of the bird to the reverse is missing.
