Antique 18ct Gold & Diamond Ring Victorian Boat Shape Mine Cut Stones c.1880 (Code A461)
An antique 18 carat gold and diamond ring. This style is known as the boat shape due to the form of the mount. It dates around 1880 and has five small diamonds set into the top. The diamonds are old rose cut and were probably cut at the mine. There is decorative detail to the top of the shoulders with scroll forms and pierced work through the mount. There are various marks inside the band, however these are now rubbed and no longer legible but the gold tests as 18 carat.
At some point the ring has been enlarged with a small gold insert in the band. This has been blended in well and needs careful inspection to notice.
- Ring size : R 1/2 (US size 8.75)
- Band Width: 1.7 to 2.7 mm
- Material : 18 carat gold
- Stones: Diamonds x 5
- Weight: 1.66 grams
Condition: All stones present and ring is nicely polished as you can see. Has been previously enlarged professionally. Some wear to the band with it being slightly uneven in places, however this is only going to notice upon close inspection.
