Antique Queen Anne/George I Oyster Cut Pollard Oak Large Fitted Spice Cabinet (Code 1557)
A lovely early 18th century oak spice kitchen cupboard cabinet. It has wonderful pollard oak oyster cut panels to the door with cross-banded border and an iron lock with brass handle and escutcheon. The top and side panels are quarter sawn oak. This item is large for a spice cabinet and the interior reveals pigeon holes and 11 drawers. It stands on an oak plinth with three further drawers. The style suggests Queen Anne or George I period. Due to the size it would also suit other purposes including as a general small table top cabinet, or in a library or study. Great colour and grain pattern and a lovely rare piece of furniture.
Gorgeous colour and aged patina. Brass knobs on internal drawers appear to be replacements. Various period wear, minor damages, losses and repairs as expected. Top panel has been varnished. Lock functional but temperamental - best left unlocked. See images for overall look..
