Antique 19th Century Indian Kashmir Gilt Brass and Champleve Enamel Beaker (Code 1989)
A wonderful mid to late 19th century Indian Kashmir region champleve enamel beaker. Gilt brass body with red copper or perhaps unusual form of gilt to the interior. Hand made with the hammered jointing just visible to the interior in places where the plating has thinned. Traditional leaf form pattern to the body with flower head bands above and below. Cobalt blue ground with turquoise, red and white decoration. A similar example sold through Christies as part of the Simon Digby collection.
Slight losses of enamel just below the rim where there are small indents to the rim. Small impact area near the foot with associated minor loss of enamel.
