Description

An early 20th century Art Deco period cigarette case.  It is in sterling silver with guilloche enamel over an engine turned optical effect 3D cube design.  It has a spring release catch and elastic to the interior which is gilt washed.  It would have held small slim cigarettes popular at the period.  There is an import hallmark to the interior for the London assay office with a date letter for 1927.  It was likely manufactured in Austria.   It is quite substantial for its size with thicker silver than usually found for such pieces. 
 

Condition

Good for period.  A few scratches to the enamel only one of which is easily noticed.  Minor wear to the silver reverse.  Interior gilt largely intact.
