Antique Art Nouveau Hallmarked Silver Reynolds Angels Tray - Charles Horner 1906 (Code 0500)
A wonderful Edwardian Art Nouveau silver tray. It is of sinuous form and has a central area with Reynolds style angels and a cloud ground. It is hallmarked for Birmingham 1906 and it has the makers mark CH for Charles Horner. There is also a registered design mark to the bottom, which reads: RD450412. It is of a good weight and thickness and clearly a quality item. It was most likely intended as a calling card tray, a popular item during this period. It could also have been used as a dressing table tray, although the raised decoration limits the usable space for this purpose.
Good for period, some polishing wear but not significantly affecting the details. Good thick section so no polishing holes. Minor age related with with the odd scratch and minor knock or indent. A lovely piece.
