Antique Aynsley China Hand Painted Scottish Landscape Kilchurn Castle Dish c1910 (2901)

  • £14500

An early 20th century fine quality Aynsley china navette shaped dessert serving dish hand painted with a Scottish landscape scene of Kilchurn Castle.  The castle is situated on a peninsula in Loch Awe.

The dish is of fluted form and has extensive gilt detail.  There are raised white enamel 'jewels' around the scenic, and moulded detail to the ends.  To the base is the Aynsley mark and the title of the scene.

The scene is initialled RGK for artist RG Keeling who worked at Aynsley during the early 20th century.  He was noted for landscape painting from around the UK as with this item, but little seems to have been recorded about him.  The dish dates around 1910 and the Edwardian period.

Surprisingly good for period, just very slight wear.
