Antique Black Forest Carved Linden Wood Comport Bowl with Deer & Tree c1900 (Code 2418)
An early 20th century carved Linden wood comport. It is from the Black Forest region, Swiss or German and likely dates between 1900 and WW1. The bowl is turned and screwed to the base, the stem is hand carved and features a dear under a tree. The base plinth is made separately and screwed to the plinth.
Black Forest carvings were popular as tourist ware during the late 19th and early 20th century.
Some period wear with scratches, abrasions and minor nicks as you would expect. One antler damaged with a piece missing. Bowl undulates as can be seen due to being hand made.
