Antique Chinese Inside Reverse Painted Overlayed Peking Glass Snuff Bottle (Code 1128)
A late 19th or early 20th century Chinese snuff bottle. It is in clear glass with black (very deep purple with a light shone through) overlay cut back in the Peking style. The bottle is inside reverse painted with a character in traditional dress with a blossoming tree to the background. The reverse has an inscription and red signature mark , the painting is somewhat is the style of Ma Shaoxuan. The lid is in a green stone, possibly chalcedony, and the spoon is set into a cork. To the base is a further character mark etched into the glass. A very decorative piece, and nice with the overlayed and cut back glass
Generally good with no major faults. Normal period wear. A few scratches to the body and one slightly deeper small scratch to the front. Slight nick to the inner lip opening, cork possibly a replacement.
