Antique Danish Danico Art Pottery Skønvirke Slip Ware High Gloss Glazed Vase (Code 1470)
An early 20th century art pottery vase from the relatively short lived Danico factory in Denmark. It has an extremely high gloss glaze which is why you see all the reflections in the images. It is slip decorated with muted greens, yellows and oranges over the deep blue ground. Danico produced items in the Skønvirke style which is an amalgam of German Secessionist, French Nouveau and British Arts & Crafts, and I think this covers it quite well. It also seems quite similar to Morrisware by Hancock and Sons. It has nice clear impressed marks to the underside and there is also the number 263 incised to the base.
Some crazing, minor wear and slight glaze flaws from production.
