Antique Derby Porcelain Flower Encrusted Bottle Vase, Bloor Period c1830 (Code 1996)
These pieces are sometimes seen listed as scent bottles, but of course they are in no way practical to use. The decoration is far too delicate (and sharp) for regular handling and they were only suitable as decorative objects. Few are now seen, probably due to most being damaged and discarded way back in time.
Inevitably there are a few petal losses, but these are remarkably limited given the nature of the decoration and the age. Overall it really is a most impressive survivor as attested to by the images.
