Antique Dispensing Apothecary / Doctors Medicine Box 'Rich Wright MD' c1900 (Code 2291)
An antique doctors/apothecary dispensing box with bottles and label. The box appears to date c1890-1910 and some the bottles may be a little later, perhaps inter-war period. The box is segmented for different bottle sizes and there is a small lift out insert in the center. This currently has a small measuring beaker and pill cup. Beneath this are some further small bottles and a Worcester pilll cup. To the lid there is a flock panel which drops down to reveal a paper label for 'Rich Wright M.D.' with 'Coll. Regal. Med. Lond' etc beneath. The printing of the label is a bit mis-registered hence why it looks fuzzy in the image - it does look like that.
The bottles appear to be empty, but of course you should still take care when handling old chemicals and keep them out of reach of children. The brown bottles have screw tops and the blue phials have corks. When you open the box there is quite a strong odour of smelling salts (a bottle was likely spilled or leaked at some point), this may fade with time and airing.
Box with lots of use having marks, knocks and nice patina, there is an old repair to the front left corner of the lid. Bottles are generally ok with some wear, one brown example has a replacement top. Worcester pill cup is cracked and damaged, small glass pill cup ha a rim chip. Two empty slots without bottles in main section. Odour of smelling salts present inside the box.
