Antique Early 20th Century Brass Highly Decorative Shaped Mirror with Bird (Code 1457)
An early 20th century decorative brass mirror with a bird figure. This style of mirror was often used in a hallway which seems a shame given the highly decorative nature. The casting was made in several pieces and is joined by small screws and brackets to the reverse. The glass would of course have to be custom cut and it has also been bevelled.. The style has some of the Art Nouveau flair and it likely dates just between this period and the Art Deco. The backing is a wooden shaped plank of surprisingly good quality and finish considering it is never intended to be seen. There is a slightly offset hanging point to the reverse which looks to have been chosen to match the center of gravity and hang it at the angle intended. Please not it is substantially heavy so will need a solid anchor point for hanging. A beautifully decorative piece in solid brass and will of course last a lifetime.
Normal wear and aging, but generally good. Some play in some of the screw fixings but nothing problematic. One of the backing holding arms missing not affecting function or safely. See images for overall presentation.
