Antique Edwardian Solid Silver Walker & Hall Calling Card Case - Kitty 1912 (Code 2139)
A lovely early 20th century hallmarked silver card case. It is Edwardian in period with the Sheffield hallmark for 1902. It was made by the famous silversmiths Walker & Hall and carries their flag mark next to the hallmark. The case is beautifully chased with a leaf design and the edges are decoratively shaped. It has a flip top hinged lid and would have been used for calling cards.
The central shield is etched for Kitty and dated 1912, 10 years after it was made, perhaps gifted as a love token with war brewing in Europe at this time.
Minor wear as expected, hinge fine and closes correctly. Minor indent in one corner (pictured). Production flaw to the bottom edge where the case halves join, you can see a gap where it wasn't fully finished off to the joint.
