Description

An Edwardian silver gilt cased travelling compendium.  It has a London hallmark for 1909 and the makers mark for Albert Barker of Bond Street, London.

It unfolds to reveal various features including a candle holder, pen stand, sealing wax holder, inkwell, vesta striker and compartment and stamp drawer.  The exterior case is silver gilt, and the interior seems to be steel etc with gilt plating.  There is a button cover to prevent it coming open by accident.  A very elaborate piece.

Condition

The exterior has some gilt wear and some slight knocks at the corners.  To the interior there is oxidisation of some of the metalwork as can be seen, and wear to the gilt through use/cleaning.  Clasp, button and hinges all work fine.  There is no liner inside the inkwell section, and there is some rusting inside this section.
