Antique French Art Nouveau Silver Vesta Case With Stork & Iris Decoration c.1895 (Code A1011)
A very attractive Art Nouveau period vesta case dating c.1895. It is formed with a wading heron or crane with an iris to the opposing side and whiplash details around the lid. It has a striker set into the base and the flip top lid is hinged and sprung. There are indistinct marks to the flange which appear to be the French hallmarks for 800 grade silver small objects.
A beautiful looking example and very different from the typical English style vesta of the period.
