Antique George III Provincial Mahogany Twin Division Tea Caddy with Mixing Bowl (Code 2163)

  • £22500

Description

A George III period provincial mahogany tea caddy dating c1800. Unassuming plain form letting the wood speak for itself, and notice the lovely ring grain pattern on the left flank. It has a brass escutcheon and the lock is still functional. Internally it has two divisions with the original lids. It also has a glass mixing bowl to the center well. Great lived in patina showing age but still looking attractive.

Condition

Chip in the wood to the front base to right of key hole. Minor area of damage under lid to left corner, with old fill and waxed over. Lots of 'lived in' patina with knocks and marks, but looking very attractive. Silvering lost to interior divisions (expected at this period). Some slack in the hinges.
