Antique Georgian Black Dot Paste Brooch In 9ct Gold & Silver (Code A931)
An antique early 19th Century Georgian period small brooch. It is a black dot example and if you look closely you can see the small black dots showing through from the underside of the culets. The central gem is a rectangular facet cut and is paste glass made to emulate citrine. The other gems are also all paste glass.
The brooch is unmarked, however the back tests as 9 carat gold and the front and gem settings are silver. It has a traditional pin with hand made hinge which is still working fine.
A lovely and rare piece of antique jewellery.
