Antique Georgian English Lead Facet Stem Glass Wine Goblet with Large Bowl c1780 (Code 6828)
Description
A nice example of a Georgian facet stem goblet dating to the late 18th Century around 1780. The stem is diamond cut and the cutting extends into the base of the bowl. The foot is conical and has a rough snapped pontil. The composition is English lead glass. Facet stem glasses became popular following the opaque twist series from around 1780 to 1800. Facet stem goblets seem particularly scarce, this being just the second I have seen in many years.
Condition
Plenty of wear to foot rim. Some very slight fritting to the stem. Average usage wear to bowl.
