Antique Georgian Short Form Plain Stem Drinking Glass, English Lead Type c1750 (2992)
Description
A mid 18th century plain stem wine glass of short stature. It dates c1750 and is George II or early George III in period. The bowl is of rounded funnel shape and the base is conical. It has a rough snapped pontil scar and it is made from English lead glass. As can be seen there are some captured air bubbles in the foot from production and there are also minor mineral inclusions as typical for the period. Good striation to the bowl and evidence of the glassmakers tooling marks are also preserved.
Condition
Good order for period, a couple of very slight frits to the rim. Good original wear to the foot rim.
