Description
A late 19th century Indian Kutch silver jar with lid. It has repousse and chased detail of fine floral and foliate forms. It is of course hand made and you can see evidence of the hand beating to the base for example. It was possibly intended for cosmetics and it has a roundel to the top of the lid for initials, although it has been left unengraved here. The lid is quite tightly fitting which would provide protection for the contents. The base is marked TP 90. These Indian silver examples are very decorative and really stand out in use, consider using them as desk tidies or similar where they will command admiring looks.
