Antique James Dixon Silver Plate, Glass & Leather Case Hunting Saddle Flask 1891 (Code 2807)
A Victorian period hunters saddle flask by the noted silversmiths James Dixon of Sheffield. The slender flask is tapered and has a silver plated drinking cup which fits over the base. The cap is a bayonet twist style. There are marks to the flask mount and also inside the cup. The leather case appears original and is of high quality. The flask is dedicated to the original owner CG Burnaby and dated 1891.
These were carried on hunting trips and also for general travels and forays, including during war. A nice original example.
Some wear as expected especially to the leather. Leather closing thong stitching coming loose. Some of the leather now a little dry. Cap working fine, some scuffs to the glass
