Antique Japanese Gyokuzan Satsuma Pottery Dragon Ware and Immortals Milk Jug (Code 1981)

  • £5000

A very elaborately decorated Japanese satsuma dragon ware small jug dating to the late Meiji period. It has a dragon head handle and is painted with immortals around the body. It uses moriage work for the white dragon scales and point decoration, all done by hand of course. There is a further dragon to the body on low relief moriage. Very heavily potted and clearly no expense spared with the decoration. Signed to a panel to the base for Gyokuzan.

Very good order for period, very little wear. Fine crazing as expected for satsuma ware of this type.
