Antique Japanese Meiji Period Gold & Silver Damascene Komai Brooch - Signed (Code A430)
An antique or early 20th Century Japanese Komai type damascene brooch. It has gold and silver decoration with black oxide beneath. It features traditional buildings with Mount Fuji in the background. The outer edge is scalloped and it has a pin type fastening to the reverse. It is impressed with the Japanese character (masa), to the reverse, these means positive but is more likely to be the maker's name which could be Akira or Shouzaki. A lovely quality example from the late Meiji period.
