Antique Kutani Porcelain Vase - Visit to a Temple - Japanese Meiji Period c1880 (Code 2548)
A diminutive 19th century Japanese Kutani porcelain vase. It is decorated with a scene of perhaps a formal visit with ladies attending a temple with hanging lanterns and dignitaries looking on. There are further scenic vignettes with lakeside scenes and a torii gate. The upper shoulders have fan shaped patterns with decorative gilt work and there are two decorative handles. Around the rim is a Greek key pattern in gilt. It has a script mark to the base simply reading 'Kutani'.
Minor wear. A small glaze pop to the rim with associated small loss of gilt. Overall a very nicely decorated example.
